Journey to greatness for ‘the Fighting Siren’ Shaloncé Royal

It was an unusual night of AEW Dark when introduced to Shaloncé Royal for the first time. Her powerful voice and her equally powerful ring presence made her a subject on social media. She would go on to make a few more appearances and both times, it resulted in social media rumblings.

The most interesting aspect about Shaloncé is that she has had major momentum between her times on AEW Dark. We are not talking the later appearances, but the earlier ones too. She would go on to win numerous championships between her time.

Shaloncé stopped getting booked on the AEW show, and it was clear that Tony Khan wasn’t paying attention, which is ironic since he is the guy who claims to listen to the fans. It didn’t stop Shaloncé though and she continued to lay forth a foundation of glory.

It even had strong implications on the show with commentator Taz. He couldn’t resist showing his vocal skills while Shaloncé was in the ring. It also changed the mood for a show that was booked a certain way as a stomping ground for signed AEW talent to enhance their win-loss records.

I have had the privilege of having many conversations with Shaloncé and one of the most notable things about her is her endless commitment. As mentioned, she won numerous titles and one of the titles she won was the OVW women’s championship.

Shaloncé herself was the one who sold me on OVW. It was a very hard sell, and I was ver resistant at first, but one thing stood out when Shaloncé mentioned that she is on a platform where fans can watch her on a weekly basis.

One thing that stood out was how Shaloncé took pride and promoted OVW through the good, bad, and uncertain times. If it wasn’t for the fighting siren, many wouldn’t even be watching right now. Shaloncé understood her role and put it all together since she knows who she is as a competitor and all she has accomplished.

There have been many competitors in the women’s division who have done this including Kacee Carlisle, Holidead, and Masha Slamovich have done to name a few. It didn’t matter where they were or who they were going against, they knew how to make every moment meaningful.

Shaloncé has done the same and through the numerous conversations had with her, she is perhaps one of the most underrated creative minds.  Her journey is so fascinating because of her building the foundation for a legacy not just in OVW but independent wrestling as well.

Right now, the fighting siren has continued making appearances on OVW and there is a strong call for her story to be told on season 2 of the Netflix series Wrestlers. No matter what happens, Shaloncé has a story, and she has a powerful voice to tell it all.
